FoundationDB is a new-generation database built to support a diverse set of applications and data models while delivering exceptional performance, data consistency, and operational resilience.
As we prepare for our GA launch, we are happy to announce the final beta version of FoundationDB, Beta 3. You can download Beta 3 here.
Beta 3 brings a range of much-requested API capabilities to enable powerful layers:
Watches: Transactional watches allow clients to get pushed notifications of value changes.
Atomic operations: These operations support high concurrency by transforming a value in specific ways while totally avoiding transaction conflicts. Ideal for high performance counters and the like.
Locality: Discover the physical location of keys and push the code to the data for improved performance.
Cancellation: Cancel or automatically time out transactions.
Explicit conflict ranges: Control read and write conflict ranges granularly, enabling a variety of advanced usages and relaxed isolation levels.
Java API: Significant improvements to ease of use and performance.
Multi-datacenter performance: Database nodes and clients route requests taking into account the network topology.
For a complete list of changes in Beta3, see the release notes.
We hope you enjoy this feature-filled final beta and stay tuned for the launch!
